Mrs Finlay, [1914-1918] 1915
Florence Findlay was living at 45 Daisy St, Essendon with her husband David and four children when she was unexpectedly widowed in late 1912, after twelve years of marriage. Two years later Mrs Finlay took a plunge into the business world when she announced: "News Agency. Mrs. Finlay notifies that she has taken over the news agency opposite the Essendon station, near Tadgell Bros'. Books, fancy goods, stamps, etc., are always on hand, and there is a public telephone on the premises". (Essendon Gazette 8 Jan 1914.)
