Edwin Robert Bound was born in Geelong, and did his baking apprenticeship in Drysdale.   In 1923 Edwin married Minnie Gertrude Greenshields, the daughter of a farmer, in Rainbow in the Wimmera, and there they ran a bakery until 1927.  By 1928 they had moved to Ascot Vale where they named their shop Rainbow Home Made Cakes.  Minnie had been born in Yapeet in 1901, but probably grew up near Rainbow and the shop commemorated that.

The Bounds ran the Rainbow Cake Shop until about 1954.   Eddie died in 1957.
