Frank Rider resided at Tennyson St, Essendon in 1920.
"To Mother from your loving son and daughter, Ted & Vi, xx, Aug 2nd 1919". This photo was taken to celebrate the marriage of Edward Charles Oram and Violet Barnes. The dado line showing in the gap between the couple possibly appeared in some photos taken by the previous photographer, Frank Vallance. Photo courtesy of Mrs Judy Provan (Paynesville, Vic) and Dayle Mills (Bundoora, Vic).

The full wedding party of the Oram-Barnes wedding of 1919 in the previous photo. In this photo a representation of an iron picket fence appears in the backdrop on the right, which in the previous photo is covered by a representation of a column. The usual Dover Studios lino is visible in the foreground and the shaggy woollen mat is just visible under the bride's feet. This is the first appearance of the cane chair with one rolled arm. Photo courtesy of Dayle Mills (Bundoora, Vic).

Arthur Henry Anderson junior in a knitted sailor suit. Arthur was born in 1918 and looks about 4,
so the photo was taken circa 1922. The studio name is embossed on the card in this instance.
Courtesy of Julie Knight. The studio background in this photo varies from the later pictures on this page,
and may represent earlier premises for the Dover Studio, or an early studio backdrop.
Wedding portrait of Zealandus Charles McFarlane and Clarice Muriel Rose Leavold, which took place in 1925. The cane furniture used in an earlier 1919 photo is included, and the ubiquitous woolly rug is present at the left rear. Courtesy of Meryl Naismith on Ancestry.

The family of John Edward Daws, pictured centre front, circa 1926. His son Charles Edward Daws is on the right, and son-in-law Leslie O'Dee on the left. The boy on the Irish Mail Cart on the front right is probably John Edward Daws junior, born in 1918. Courtesy of a UK connection.

The Alice Evelyn Clark and Roy Arthur Noble wedding, 1927. In this photo the backdrop shows the same representation of an iron picket fence through the window with a column to the left of the window shown in the 1919 Oram-Barnes wedding group photo above. Courtesy of Sharyn O'Neill.

A wedding group from the Harris and Wright Collection, circa 1928-1930. The man back right is Bob Wright, (see H2010.137/2) Courtesy of the State Library of Victoria Collection, H2010.137/61.

A wedding group from the Eileen Wilson Collection, taken at the Dover Studios, 141 Puckle St, Moonee Ponds, circa 1928-30. Note the same studio backdrop to the previous photo. Courtesy of the State Library of Victoria, H2011.20/69; H2011.20/71

the cane chair with one rolled arm. Courtesy Moonee Valley Library Service Community Heritage Collection.

Unidentified bride, Dover Studios, Moonee Ponds. circa 1931. The details of the bride's dress which suggests 1931 are the gathers at the side of the skirt from the hip, the longer hemline, and the less tubular shape. Ada Birch Seward, Dover Studios, Moonee Ponds, 1931. Inscribed on verso folder: "To Effie & Norman, With Ada's fond love and every good wish for Christmas and the New Year 1931-1932". From the Holloway Collection, State Library of Victoria Collection, H85.55/133 Ada Seward resided at 6 Scott St, Moonee Ponds in the 1936 Electoral Roll. Ada's parents were George Seward and Sarah Holloway. Her brother was George Moncreiff Seward who may be pictured in a photo of the Suburban Bicycle Club.

The studio has a new painted window backdrop but the same lino and woolly rug as in past years.
Probably about the same date as the wedding couple below, as the wedding veil and headpiece are
of very similar style.
Ronald West and Phyllis Dickinson were married at St Thomas' Church, Moonee Ponds on 26 November 1932. The bridal gown and veil are very much in the style of the wedding gown of the unknown couple above this one, and presumably the other was taken around the same time. Photo courtesy of their granddaughter Robyne.
Ascot Vale Methodist Gymnasium, 1933. Note the new style backdrop window treatment, but same old
lino and woolly rug.

The wedding portrait of John Jack Lavender and Alice Gertrude Lane who married at St Paul's Anglican Church, Ascot Vale in 1940. By this time the Dover Studio was at 17 Holmes Rd.
